Research Overview

RAIL’s research focus is in the development and validation of machine learning applications for medical image classification and analysis. Centered in Radiology, we collaborate with clinicians and researchers from other specialties, such as:

  • Ophthalmology

  • Neurosurgery

  • Orthopaedic Surgery

  • Malone Center engineers and computer scientists

Projects and Collaborations

We are actively researching in a number of clinical areas and welcome collaborations with other clinicians (both radiologists & non-radiologists), residents, and medical students. Areas of investigation have included:

  • Breast cancer screening on 2D & 3D mammograpy

  • Detection of Tuberculosis on chest radiographs

  • Triage of stroke on CT & MRI of the brain

  • Other projects utilizing deep learning and other machine learning  techniques towards image analysis
